This site is about the economy and the statement that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer which is true in most every aspect. This site is giving examples of different times over the years that we have had economic struggle. It states when it was really low and the poor and middle class had nothing but the rich still had everything, and when the economy was doing fine the upper class was more than wealthy, but the middle class was just barely getting by and the poor were still struggling. They are putting the blame on the president.
Okay now while I do agree that certain companies are making way to much money, gas, and not paying enough out to their workers even though they can afford it. I don’t agree that it is the presidents fault. The president doesn’t really run the country it is congress that has all the power and can veto and override the presidents choices. Congress in a whole makes more money than they need as well. There is no reason for them to be making so much while the people they claim to be concerned about are barely slipping by, and they sit in their million dollar homes with name brand everything. The only thing they care about is money and how much they can make, then if something doesn’t go their way they blame it onto the president or whomever else they can find at the time. They don’t even meet like they should and take long (month long) breaks and still get paid. It is ridiculous to claim that the people who never struggle can relate to those middle lower class people who are always on a budget and struggling to get by.

The article, Gap Between America’s Rich and Poor Worsened in Past Two Decades covers some very interesting points about the current economy and the rising gap between the income classes. It brings to light how large the gap is between the lowest wage earners and the elite wealthy. It also implies that some of our financial problems seem to stem largely from undocumented aliens and outsourcing. It poses several solutions; more income taxes for the rich, more tax breaks for the poor, raising minimum wage, and adjusting unemployment standards. All of these suggestions are made at the state level.

I have to agree with a lot of this article. I think it is quite disturbing to know that rich people don’t truly feel the crunch of our financial state anywhere near the way that the lower-income families do. I feel it’s time that America really starts focusing on her own people. Stop allowing so many people just to come on in. And, for goodness sake, don’t offer them social security and healthcare. It’s hard enough for our legal citizens to reap those benefits as it is. I can only hope that the government will see fit to fix these problems in my lifetime. Maybe Congress should stop paying themselves so much, especially after retirement. I’m tired of the law makers not truly caring about the little man anymore. I’m sorry but, if it weren’t for all of the little people, this country wouldn’t have a leg to stand on. We need to pull out of the Middle East, responsibly, and come home and clean up. I’d like to be comfortable knowing that my children have a good country to grow up in without having to struggle.

The article, “Gap Between America’s Rich and Poor Worsened in Past Two Decades” by Mike Hall reflects the rising wage gap between the rich and the poor. The article chronicles the income trends of the rich, middle class, and poor from the 1980s until now, noting a huge increase in the wage gap around the time George Bush entered off. The article goes on to say that there are solutions to reduce this gap and outlines what the federal and state government can do to resolve the issue.
I believe the article addresses one of today’s growing concerns. The rich get richer, the poor gets poorer. I feel it would be interesting to look at introducing salary caps for certain jobs similar to what they do in professional sports. I do not think it is completely fair to blame our economic downturns on a person, namely the president. Our economy has been slowly failing for fifteen years, it just plummeted after September 11, 2001, not an issue to be blamed on anyone. I think we need to focus on restructure instead of giving refund checks, or low interest rates, keep the money and pay down the deficit, it would be a benefit to all, rich and poor.

"Gap Between America's Rich and Poor Worsened In Past Two Decades" by Mike Hall is about the growing problem with our economy and the working class in America today. It talks about how we struggle daily to get by trying to save money but are unable to in the middle and lower classes. The upper class is able to afford things and save up money making them even more wealthy, while the middle and lower class are trying to make ends meat each week and have no chance to save. The author thinks that the government can regulate taxes on things to help this problem out.

I don't agree fully with this article. I understand that each class has its pros and cons but everyone has a chance to make nothing into everything. If you come in to the world in the lower class it should motivate you into doing something to better yourself. The possibilities are endless. I think that each person makes there own choices in life and how they choose them decides what they are going to be and do in life.

Mike Hall's article, "Gap Between America's Rich and Poor Worsened in Past Two Decades," discusses the economic issues between the upper-class and the lower-and middle-class families. This article explains how the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, especially while we are going through an economic crisis. This shows the unfairness that middle-and lower-class families have to deal with as they struggle to make ends meet, while the Bush Administration resist to make any new efforts to assist these families in financial need.
While the middle-and lower-class work hard every day, living paycheck to paycheck, and struggling to pay bills, the interest that we pay on our loans continue to keep the upper-class wealthy. Many think that it is the Administration that is keeping us poor, but in reality it is the "men behind the curtain" who are taking our money, as they keep us in debt with mortgage loans and credit card bills. So as the lower-and middle-class continue to spend money that really isn't theirs, the upper-class will continue to get richer.

This article is talking about how the economy in the past few years; is now coming in to a recession. Also about how the income in todays economy is increasing in the upper class. While the middle class lower class aren't doing so well. Then the article talking about how the bush administration is resiting from doing anything about it and he makes a few points on what should the do to improve the economy in the states.
I do agree on the fact that wages and salaries grew faster for those at the top of the income scale. Various factors explain growing wage inequality including long periods of higher-than-average unemployment, globalization, the shift from manufacturing jobs to low-wage service jobs, immigration, the weakening of unions, and the declining value of the minimum wage. Also the things the article mentions about things to improve economic industry. Like

Update unemployment insurance systems to better reflect today’s workforce.

Extend the amount of time workers receive benefits during an economic downturn.

Raise the state minimum wage and index it for inflation.

Maintain or improve support services such as transportation, child care and health coverage.
These ideas are a few things we need to improve todays economy.

The social classes of America are gaining a larger gap between them. Since the 1980s the classes have seen a larger gap growing, originally with the higher end having a little over twice the middle class, and six times over the lower. Now it stands at two and a half times over middle and seven and a half times over the lower. Because the higher classes have done so well, the lower two are suffering to different degrees. And with the hard economic times ahead, it will really hurt those people.

I really don't know how to answer this. My family is a middle class family and seems to do well for itself. I'm not sure how it will effect me as I go out onto my own in life, but I hope that it won't hurt to badly.

This article explains how the gap between the rich and poor has increased. It basically states that as the lower and middle class continue to struggle, the upper class still has no problem making it in life.
I fully agree with the writers views. My family has fought hard just to make it to the lower middle class. We never really had any luxuries. We recently got cable TV. In the past we have struggled to survive. I remember being very young, all we ever ate were beans and rice. occasionally we would have ramen noodles and once in a blue moon we actually had steak, cheap steaks of course. Our situation has not drastically changed for the better. The only reason we can even afford food is because both of my parents are disabled. It is terribly difficult to budget on a fixed income.

The article reflects on the current state of society, mainly the U.S. economy. Giving examples and descriptions about the gaps between the rich and poor/middle-class. More taxes for the poor and more money for the rich.

Without hitting any one's funny bones, this would reflect most of the world rather than just the U.S. The miscommunication, the guilt and political strain. The arrogance and persistence we give and take. The presidency is NOT the issue. It's the issues we live and accept that multiply into the problems we face today. Stop getting by and learn something new.

I agree that certain companies are making to much money. On the other hand i don't think that someone should be punished for making more money than someone else because the rich guy worked harder for his job. I do believe that the middle class people should be helped more than the poor class because i think that the reason that most poor people didn't try to educate themselves because they didn't think school was the "cool" thing to do so why should we help people that don't want to work for a living but on the other hand the people that are trying to get out of their debt should be helped because they are showing initiative.
